After Kim Jong Il, what's next for N. Korea? by David Martin
Kim Jong Il’s son is said to be the most likely successor of North Korea since his father died. I chose this article because we learned about North Korea this week in class. I am fascinated by how the country is completely cut off from the outside world, and for the most part, no one rebels. The people have close to no freedom, they are practically brain washed from childhood, and harsh concentration camps take in anyone who so much as complains. I find it ridiculous that such a dictatorship has survived 2 , and now 3, generations.

Reflection
This week I’ve learned that a government can completely control its people. North Korea controls everything from what its people say to the decorations in their homes. In the past, such dictatorships have always fallen, but this one still holds strong. Hopefully, the people will be given some sort of freedom in the time to come.
